Non-Accidental Injury

Representation in Non-Accidental Injury cases

The NAI process is long and often distressing. There is a lot of information to digest and parents need to feel listened to and heard. We understand that nothing is more important to a parent than their children. We provide no-nonsense, plain English and ‘to the point’ advice, ensuring parents are given the guidance, tools and support to run their case in court.

Our experience includes:

• Representation of a mother to a baby with three broken bones. The identification of previous incidents formed a concerning pattern of injury for this child. A ten-day fact-finding hearing was held, the mother was represented in putting forward her possible explanations for the injuries which were put to medical experts. As a result, the court discharged the Local Authority’s orders. The Local Authority later appealed this decision and we represented the mother through that appeal which the court dismissed.
• Representation of a mother to two children subject to care proceedings following the seizure of a young baby and alleged harm caused to it. The mother was successfully represented in proceedings which led to the return of the children to her care.
• Representation of mother in care proceedings. Successfully challenged evidence suggesting that the marks on the child were indicative of non-accidental injury.
• Representation of parents who find themselves under extreme stress where children have been harmed in their care and actively exploring options for the family to remain together with specialist input and support.
