Name: Millie Eccles
Job title: Solicitor
What’s your role within the residential conveyancing team, and what does a typical day look like for you?
I’m a Solicitor in the Residential Conveyancing team. My day usually involves preparing and sending out contract packs, raising and answering enquiries, putting together reports on title, searches, mortgages and properties, and handling exchanges and completions. It’s busy, but I love the variety!
How long have you been with the firm, and what first attracted you to join?
I joined in December 2024. I was really drawn to the firm’s community feel and the hybrid working setup. As a newly qualified solicitor, it felt like the perfect next step.
What do you enjoy most about working in residential conveyancing?
I enjoy the structure of the conveyancing process and supporting clients through a significant milestone in their lives.
What’s one thing people might not realise about your job?
That we don’t always control the timeline! Third parties can really affect how quickly things move.
What’s been a memorable moment or proud achievement during your time here?
Attending networking events and taking on more responsibility has really boosted my confidence and helped me to grow professionally.
How do you approach client care and communication during the conveyancing process?
I keep clients updated regularly and respond to emails quickly.
How important is a good relationship with Estate Agents and other providers?
Very! We’ve built strong relationships with local estate agents as we know the importance of keeping them updated regularly. This helps with keeping the process moving and with the goal of a prompt completion.
How do you stay organised and manage multiple transactions or tasks at once?
We have a great case management system. It allows us to assign tasks and tick things off as we go, and clients can see progress too!
What’s your favourite part of the conveyancing process and why?
Final enquiries and agreeing the completion date – it’s when everything starts coming together.
What’s one skill or quality that helps you succeed in your role?
Being organised and maintaining open communication with clients and third parties.
What’s something new you’ve learned recently—professionally or personally?
How to manage a bigger workload – it’s been a great challenge.
How do you unwind after a busy day at work?
I like to go for a run or walk after work, and then at the end of the busy week I enjoy relaxing with a glass of wine and catching up with friends.
What’s your go-to productivity tip or tool?
Lists! I always keep my to-do list updated and current so that nothing is missed.
What motivates you at work?
Learning new things and having goals to work towards.
What’s one thing you think makes this firm a great place to work?
Definitely the people! I’ve got amazing colleagues.
What’s a common misconception people have about conveyancing?
Thinking the process is quick and easy. It’s not! There’s a lot going on behind the scenes.
What’s your favourite way to start the workday?
Coffee in hand and checking emails.
If you could describe your team in three words, what would they be?
Supportive, friendly and hard working.
