Our Residential Conveyancing team guides clients through buying and selling property, ensuring a smooth, stress-free process.
In our next team interview, we meet Conveyancing Administrator, Eleanor Hill.

Name: Eleanor Hil
Job title: Property Team Administrator & Assistant to Karen Hakin
What’s your role within the residential conveyancing team, and what does a typical day look like for you?
I am an administrator within the property team. A normal day for me varies, but typically I will deal with emails from clients, estate agents and colleagues, dealing with tasks assigned to me as well as incoming post. I assist with new enquiries, quotes and opening files and I am always speaking to clients both face to face and on the phone.
How long have you been with the firm, and what first attracted you to join?
I heard about Cartridges Law through a friend and previous employee of the firm. I joined in 2021 to cover maternity leave, and I was made a permanent member of staff quite quickly. I have worked within legal for many years and I found the firm very friendly and a nice place to work.
What do you enjoy most about working in residential conveyancing?
Seeing a matter through from start to finish – from when a new client walks through the door or calls with their initial enquiry, right up until completion of the matter.
What’s been a memorable moment or proud achievement during your time here?
The firm nominated me for Support Team Member of the Year 2025 at the DASLS Awards. That was brilliant!!
How do you approach client care and communication during the conveyancing process?
I try to be as helpful and responsive as possible. Many clients don’t understand the importance of compliance and client care and why we need that information, but most are grateful when I explain the conveyancing process to them.
How important is a good relationship with Estate Agents and other providers?
Very. Estate Agents can be very helpful when it comes to communicating information through the transaction chain.
What’s one piece of advice you often give to clients going through a property transaction?
Timescales are incredibly hard to predict – conveyancing can sometimes take time. Also, I advise clients to make sure they read their paperwork carefully.
What’s your favourite part of the conveyancing process and why?
Completion, especially when it is a matter that you have worked on from the start.
How do you collaborate with other departments or team members to ensure smooth transactions?
Talking and open communication. As we are a one office firm, it is easy to have contact with other teams.
If you weren’t working in conveyancing, what career path might you have taken?
Probably in nursing/healthcare. I also have a strong interest in working outside i.e. gardening and with animals, especially horses and dogs.
How do you unwind after a busy day at work?
During the summer months when there are longer evenings of daylight, I try to be outside walking my dog or gardening. During the winter months I enjoy reading a good book or watching a drama series on TV.
What’s one thing you think makes this firm a great place to work?
It’s great being a small, one office firm. All of the staff get on well with each other and socialise regularly. Also, our office is on a high street and many of our clients are able to visit the office with ease, which helps form a great client/solicitor relationship.
What’s your favourite way to start the workday?
Via Greggs for a cappuccino (with a lot of chocolate sprinkles on top) and a bacon bap.
