Every month, we display the work of local artists in our reception, bringing a cheer to our clients and team members.
This month, we’ve put the spotlight on plein-air artist Julie Dunster. Not one to be deterred by the Devon weather, Julie works out in the wild to capture a fleeting moment in a landscape, as well as the emotion in a portrait or narrative in a still life. Julie is especially inspired by the Devon landscape; the rolling countryside, rugged moors and shimmering coastline.
Julie uses the medium of oil paint, which gives her the flexibility to work freely and blend the colours more fluidly.

She regularly exhibits work in The Mall, three-intertwined modern art galleries in London and other juried exhibitions in the city. She is also part of major figurative art societies such the Royal Society Of Marine Artists, Royal Institute Of Oil Painters, & New English Art Club – to name a few.
Locally, you’ll find her paintings at Vandlys Galleri on Exeter Quay, and Seaglass Gallery, Lympstone
Her daughter Skye works here at Cartridges, and will readily testify how much of an outdoor painting addict her mum is. Julie loves to help others learn the art of plein-art painting, teaching outdoors as well as in workshops and at painting retreats.
