What is Disability History Month?

Disability History Month has occurred annually from November to December since 2010, with this year’s taking place from the 16 November to 16 December. Each year has a different theme.

What is the theme for Disability History Month 2022?

This year’s theme is “Health and Wellbeing” and was heavily influenced by the treatment of disabled people during the pandemic. We all remember well the anxiety that paired with quarantining, but most of us now can freely move without worrying about coronavirus or the negative toll of lockdown on our mental health. The reality for many disabled people however is much different – either due to compromised immunity or the withdrawal of accessibility provisions provided in the earlier stages of the pandemic – many are still shielding.

Supporting our disabled clients

The mental health and wellbeing of disabled people is no less important than that of able-bodied people, which is why at Cartridges Law we provide a range of different accommodations for our disabled clients. For those who need appointments from the safety of their homes, we offer a variety of video and telephone appointments and can even correspond via text. Clients with mobility limitations can be reassured that the majority of our meeting rooms are on one level, and for people who need additional help understanding legal proceedings we have reliable contacts with Support Through Court.

Health and Wellbeing at Cartridges Law

Cartridges Law prides itself on supporting the wellbeing of clients and employees alike, which is why many of our staff work flexible hours and combine office working with homeworking. We have a number of disabled staff throughout the firm, from solicitors to admin staff, who have personal perspectives on what it takes to make an inclusive and accessible environment within Cartridges Law. Every member of our team has invaluable insight, and we are constantly working to ensure that the firm is a safe, accessible, and inclusive environment for everyone.
