We are proud to announce that Cartridges Law Partner Nicky Mein has been awarded Highly Commended for Leader of the Year at the 2025 Devon and Somerset Law Society Awards.
Nicky first joined the firm in 2007 and went on to become a Partner, then Managing Partner, before stepping back to focus on practicing in her specialism of Family Law in autumn 2024. Described by colleagues as ‘the definition of an inspirational and resilient leader,’ Nicky has guided the firm through times of significant change, with a clear focus on values, people, and long-term sustainability.
During her time as Managing Partner, Nicky steered Cartridges Law through major shifts in the legal sector, and helped future-proof the business through smart financial management and investment in people. Nicky’s leadership was pivotal during the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring that both clients and staff remained supported, helped by her early adoption of flexible working practices. This leadership was recognised when Cartridges Law won the 2020 DASLS Employer of the Year award.
Nicky is also known for her dedication to mentoring and developing talent in others. She has supported the progression of colleagues at all levels – from administrative staff to senior solicitors – and recently led a seamless succession process, welcoming three new equity partners and handing over the Managing Partner role to Victoria Matthews.
