Remortgaging is the process of moving from your existing mortgage deal to a new one. You may consider remortgaging to get a better deal, or you may be looking to borrow more money against the value of your property. We are approved remortgage solicitors for the majority of high street lenders.

If you are staying with the same lender the process may be straightforward, but if you are switching lenders then it is likely to involve additional legal work.

During the remortgage conveyancing process, we act for both you and the lender. Whilst you may have lived at your property for many years, we will be required to investigate the title to the property on behalf of your new lender. This means that we will check the legal documents to confirm that you are the legal owner of the property you are remortgaging. We will also request new local authority searches if required by the lender. This is more likely to be the case if there is currently no mortgage on the property.
