We are delighted to welcome Tamsin Johns as our first cARTridges artist of 2024. Tamsin is based in our local neighbourhood of St Thomas, Exeter, and her work is primarily focused on capturing the beauty of Devon through her impressionist paint style.

Tamsin began her painting journey at a very young age, progressing from a hobby to deep passion which has seen her graduate with a BA from Exeter School of Art/Plymouth University.

Tamsin often creates work in plein air, through sketching or quick underpaintings, which she then takes back to the studio to develop further. Like many other plein air artists, Tamsin believes being in the landscape helps you to truly understand the atmosphere of the space, making it easier to translate onto canvas and to the audience.
