For our first exhibition of 2025, we are delighted to welcome back previous cARTridges artist Tamsin Johns with a new collection of paintings.
Tamsin is a Devon based artist whose work captures the beauty of the county’s natural landscapes through her impressionist paint style. Tamsin often works ‘en plein air’ to some capacity through sketching or quick underpainting which she then takes back to the studio to develop further. Painting has seen her exhibit both in solo and group shows, international magazines, freelance, sell work and graduate with a BA in Fine Art.
“Working in the landscape means you are truly understanding the atmosphere of the space, making it easier to translate onto canvas and to the audience.”
This particular collection incorporates a technique called ‘underpainting’, where each canvas is prepared with a contrasting colour to the main painting that will sit on top. This technique brings out the vibrance of the landscape as well as depth.
