Meet our next cARTridges artist, Jayde Stevenson! Jayde comes from a multi-talented family, as her mum Bernadette is one of our resident paralegals within the Housing team. Jayde’s beautiful seascape-inspired paintings are currently brightening up our reception area and we’ll be getting to know her better over the coming months.

I have grown up in Devon and always loved painting, drawing and creating art. However, it was only after becoming ill with long COVID and being unable to work that I discovered painting seascapes and the ocean. I love surfing and visit the sea regularly, so even when I was too unwell to leave the house, painting gave me a way to bring the ocean to me and help me recover. I have realised how calming the ocean is, not just for myself but others as well which is why I have continued painting so that people can have a slice of tranquility in their homes/ workplaces etc.

My inspiration come from a variety of sources; including my Sri Lankan heritage and love of surfing, travel and nature. Many of the paintings you see are directly inspired by the beautiful & rugged Devon and Cornwall coast, as well as the tropical shores of Sri Lanka.
