Cartridges Law had big wins at the 2023 Devon and Somerset Law Society Awards last week.

The DASLS awards recognise achievements of those in the legal profession within the two counties.

As well as enjoying an evening out at Exeter University’s Great Hall, the firm had already made quite an impact on the list of contenders.

Anita Laws was shortlisted for Legal Executive of the Year and the firm itself for Law Firm of the Year. We were also shortlisted by the judges for Employers of the Year – we didn’t actually enter that category but felt very flattered to be considered.

Wins came in two categories: the Green Team won the Sustainability Award and Mark Fairchild won Support Worker of the Year. We are particularly pleased with these wins because they highlight the work put in behind the scenes by our great staff.

The Green Team comprises mainly our younger team members, including our apprentices. With interest, enthusiasm, and deep technical knowledge they present research and information to the whole firm, encouraging all of us to work towards Net Zero with a range of well-evidenced initiatives. A big thank you to them.

Mark’s award for Support Worker of the Year illustrates the vital importance of sound administration to the success of a team. Family work moves quickly and can be demanding; Mark makes sure nothing is missed. And it’s not just internally that Mark is appreciated: testimonials to his professionalism and good-humoured patience were provided by several of the external agencies with which the team works. Mark is irreplaceable and it is great to see that recognised by the DASLS Awards judges.

Congratulations to all involved.
