Advice for Tenants

Housing advice

Our housing lawyers provide legal help for tenants renting in the private sector as well as from councils and housing associations. We provide housing advice for tenants on matters including tenancy agreements, deposit protection, tenants’ rights, possession and disrepair.

  • Do you understand what type of tenancy you have and the rights and obligations this affords to you and your landlord?
  • As a tenant, is your landlord claiming ill- use of the property or non- payment of rent?
  • Are you being asked to leave your property?
  • Are you facing possession proceedings in the County Court
  • Do you have a counterclaim against your landlord?
  • Have you found yourself unable to pay your mortgage and you’re facing court action?
  • Are you facing eviction or living in unsuitable accommodation?

How we work

If you appoint us, a named housing lawyer will support your case from start to finish and keep you informed throughout. If your case manager is unavailable on the day, another member of the housing team will make every effort to speak to you.

Before we start working for you, we will agree with you:

  • exactly what needs to be done
  • who will be doing the work
  • how much it will cost or how the fee will be calculated

We are committed to providing an excellent, personalised service for all of our clients. We are accredited with the Lexcel Quality Mark by the Law Society, in recognition of the high quality of legal practice management and client care that our team provides.

I live in sheltered housing and was threatend with eviction. It was a very scary and stressful experience.

Cartridges Law came to the rescue and worked hard to represent me in court. Without their help I would have ended up homeless.”
